Nashville Preadtors forward Kevin Fiala will miss the rest of the Stanley Cup Playoffs thanks to a broken femur.

The Nashville Predators got a huge 4-3 win over the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night to take a 1-0 series lead. It should give them some momentum, knowing the worst they can do is head home with the series split at one game a piece. However, this proved to be a costly win.

During the game, Kevin Fiala got hit into the boards and had to be taken off with a stretcher. It looked awful, as he couldn’t put any weight on his leg. His leg bended in a way no leg should ever bend. Hockey fans feared the worst, and the bad news has come. Fiala broke his femur and will miss the rest of the postseason.

This is a huge loss for the Predators. Fiala is one of their top scorers during the postseason with two goals in their round one win over the Chicago Blackhawks. He was a part of their second forward line, joining James Neal and Calle Jarnkrok. Fiala was also a big part of their second power play unit. It’s tough to see injuries like this happen, but it seems he’ll be OK long-term.

Expect third line forward Colin Wilson to get more ice time moving forward as he likely replaces Fiala. He’s been a clutch scorer for them over the previous two postseasons. Wilson added a goal in his first playoff appearance on Wednesday. P.A. Parenteau is right-handed, but has experience playing as a left-wing, so he could factor in the equation as well. Still, it’s never easy to replace a young skilled forward. They are very hard to find. Luckily, the Predators have options to replace him.
