With the 11th-overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints selected Marshon Lattimore out of Ohio State University.

In one of the more loaded draft classes we’ve seen, the corner spot might be the best of the bunch. Even with that, Lattimore is the best at his position by a wide margin. At Ohio State, Lattimore dominated the competition, earning first-team Big Ten honors while garnering All-America status.

The Buckeyes had an absurd core in the secondary last year, including Lattimore, Gareon Conley and Malik Hooker. The Cleveland native was only a starter for one year at Ohio State, but that is more of a commentary on who was ahead of him rather than his lack of talent throughout his first few years in Columbus.

If there is any concern about Lattimore, it’s his durability. As outlined nicely by NFL.com, the youngster struggled to stay on the field due to a host of ailments. When you watch his tape, you become more convinced that the only way he flops in the NFL is if he can’t stay on the field.

Lattimore will start immediately on the outside, using his blazing speed and quality technique to hold receivers in check. Don’t expect a huge learning curve for this rookie, who comes out as the best corner we’ve seen since Patrick Peterson went to the Arizona Cardinals out of LSU.
