New York Giants select Evan Engram
With the 23rd-overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the New York Giants selected Evan Engram out of the University of Ole Miss.
This is one of the deepest tight end classes in draft history, and Engram is right at the top of the list. The Ole Miss product has great size at 6-foot-3 and 234 pounds, and showed off his strength at the combine with 19 reps on the bench press.
On the field, Engram has been part of one of the nation’s top offenses over the last few seasons. After watching Laquan Treadwell and Laremy Tunsil get picked in the first round of last year’s draft, Engram has followed suit in 2017 as another high pick from the Rebels. This comes as no surprise, after watching Engram dominate the SEC with 65 catches for 926 yards and eight touchdowns, on his way to being named first-team All-SEC.
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 234
40-time: 4.42
Bench: 19 reps
Vertical: 36”
Broad: 125”
3-cone: 6.92
There’s really nothing not to like about Engram, who appears to be one of the slam-dunk picks in this class. He has every athletic trait you could ask for, showcased by his tremendous showing at the combine. In Indianapolis, the younger had his position’s top time in the 40-yard dash, 3-cone shuttle, 20-yard shuttle and vertical jump.

While his blocking is one area that needs a little bit of work, he projects as a three-down tight end who can both play in-line and split out wide. Once he refines his route-running and learns proper blocking angles at the next level, he’s going to be a nightmare for opponents.
