The NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was booed by the Philadelphia crowd the second he took the podium. Seems like it will be a long night for him.
Three things are guaranteed in life: Death, taxes, and Roger Goodell getting booed at the NFL Draft. The NFL Draft ceremony this season is being held in Philadelphia, also known as the City of Brotherly Love. However, there was no love shown for NFL commissioner Goodell on Thursday night.
Goodell tried to amp up the crowd, trying to encourage them and saying “come on Philly,” but it only added fuel to the fire as the booing got louder. Goodell has usually been booed each time he takes the podium at the NFL Draft in recent times, but this Philadelphia crowd seemed to be the loudest yet.
Goodell hasn’t necessarily been a crowd favorite since he became commissioner in the year 2006. Players and personnel have expressed their displeasure with decisions and rules he has implemented to the game in the past. Many people believe that he has been running the league as a dictator, and doesn’t seem to care much about others than himself.

NFL players have also been very outspoken about their displeasure with Goodell, each time they are handed a fine for things such as excessive celebrations. Others have also been frustrated with the amount of money Goodell makes compared to the players, even though the players are the ones making bringing the league the revenue essentially.
It has become a tradition that the world has become accustomed to, as it doesn’t seem to stop anytime soon. Goodell will just have to get used to being booed each time he hits the stage and announces the next NFL draft pick.
