Tennessee Titans select Adoree Jackson
With their second pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans selected Adoree Jackson out of the University of Southern California.
Jackson is going to be a polarizing draft grade for the pundits come next week. He clearly has the raw talent to become a solid starting corner, but where? At 5-foot-10 and less than 190 pounds, one has to wonder if he can deal with physical, big receivers on the outside at the NFL level. It’s tough to imagine Jackson handling someone the size of Dez Bryant.
That said, Jackson has elite speed and should be able to deal with anybody on a fly pattern. If he can learn the different techniques at the line of scrimmages and perfect his footwork, he might be able to handle the outside game. Taking a corner this high, it shows a belief in the player to go against the opponent’s top receiver.

At USC, you couldn’t ask much more of Jackson. He was named first-team Pac-12 while garnering All-America honors as a junior. While the Trojans weren’t a national championship contender throughout his years in Southern California, he was consistently one of the best corners in the game.

If Jackson can’t handle the outside, look for him to slide inside and play the slot until he puts more weight on. Best case? Jackson ends up very much like Chris Harris Jr. who can both play inside and outside at an All-Pro level.
