Green Bay Packers select Kevin King
With the 33rd-overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers selected cornerback Kevin King, from the University of Washington.
Going into the draft, King’s stock has been all over the map. Some believed he should go in the top 20 picks, while others saw a player who could go in the middle of the second round. Time will tell who had the better analysis here, but King finds himself a home and now goes to work.
At Iowa, King established himself as one of the top corners in the Pac-12, which is saying something considering the talent at his own school in recent years. King has been part of a tremendous secondary which featured Budda Baker and Sidney Jones last year, along with Marcus Peters in 2015.

King was a star at the combine, certainly helping his draft stock to rise throughout the find two months. The youngster posted the best 20 and 60-yard shuttle times along with a vertical jump of 39.5 inches, tops in the class for a cornerback. Perhaps that showing was the difference between being taken a few spots later and where he eventually went.

At 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, King has great size. He might be able to add a little more weight to his frame, and when the day comes that the speed begins to decline, he has the perfect shape for a safety. Look for him to start right away.
