CHICAGO, IL - APRIL 12: Kris Bryant

Chicago Cubs star Kris Bryant launches home run over Green Monster. It was during his first at-bat of his career in Fenway Park.

To many players, it is intimidating. A large, 37-feet, 2-inch green wall that sets as barrier between the baseball and the outside world. Only 310 feet away from the plate, the Green Monster at Fenway Park feels large — enough to cause players to think more up the middle or to right field.

It takes a swing of great power and angle to achieve the height needed to knock a ball over that wall. Many that try only hit the wall and reach second base. A nice reward, but not enough to proclaim victory.

The legend of Kris Bryant earned him the respect and adoration of fan and players. For four consecutive years, he was named the best player in baseball at that level. The NCAA player of the year in 2013, and in the minors in 2014. His first full season with the Chicago Cubs ended with a Rookie of the Year trophy in the NL. And last season, he was the NL MVP. Surely, he could proclaim victory over the Green Monster.

It didn’t take long.

On the second pitch of his first big league at-bat in Fenway Park, Kris Bryant crushed a 92 MPH fastball over the wall. It also went out of the stadium altogether. It traveled a great 449 feet, according to StatCast.
