Jake Butt enters day three of the NFL Draft still having not been picked – but don’t feel too bad for him, since he’s still making money by sitting around.

In the first three rounds of the 2017 NFL Draft, over 100 former college football players have heard their names called and found out which team they will start their professional careers with. Not one of those names so far has been former Michigan tight end Jake Butt, who at one point was one of the top prospects at that position last season.

That all changed in the Wolverines’ Orange Bowl loss to Florida State last December, went Butt went down with an ACL injury that almost certainly is the main reason why the 2016 Mackey Award winner winner still has not been picked.

However, Butt may be one of the smartest players still on the board. You see, before the injury, the former Wolverine signed up for an insurance policy just in case something happened to him over the course of the 2016 season (since he had previously torn his ACL while a sophomore at Michigan). That policy, which is paying him for going below where he had been projected before the injury, is paying off with each pick that Jake Butt doesn’t hear his name called.

So, on the off chance that the name ‘Jake Butt’ is not heard one time during the 2017 NFL Draft, he could pocket around $1.5 MILLION DOLLARS! That’s right, he will be a millionaire thanks to the NFL without having to deal with those pesky things called training camp, two a days and actually working out.

In reality, Jake Butt will hear his named called at some point on Saturday and will likely be a decent rookie tight end come the 2017 season for whoever picks him. In addition, he will be the one buying dinner for the tight end room like most first year players have to do. Now, those veterans will get to enjoy a decent meal thanks to a bowl game injury from last season.
