2017 NFL Draft: Baltimore Ravens final grade
The Baltimore Ravens’ lack of a pass rush hurt their secondary last season. Terrell Suggs was their only viable pass rusher other than the incredibly inconsistent Timmy Jernigan. The Ravens’ emotional leader is on the wrong side of 30, so they picked Tyus Bowser. He should make an immediate impact.
Bowser is more known for dropping back in coverage, but has shown a lot of potential as far as pass rushing. He has the potential to move to the inside because he’s such a great run stopper. However, Bowser’s future is likely on the outside.
Grade: B. A receiver would have made more sense here.
Baltimore knew they had to replace Jernigan, who got traded to the Eagles. In Chris Wormley, the Ravens get an immediate contributor. He should slot into one of the starting roles after the departure of Lawrence Guy to the New England Patriots. Wormley has shown a lot of potential as a pass rusher as both an end and a tackle.
Grade: B+. Wormley’s a great value pick here.
The second of Newsome’s 2017 draft picks from Alabama, the Baltimore Ravens get an incredibly gifted pass rusher in Tim Williams. He must be more consistent and he has huge character concerns, but in the third round, he was worth a flyer. Williams might wind up being the second best pass rusher from the 2017 NFL Draft.
Grade: A-. One of the best value picks of the 2017 draft. Many think Williams has first round talent.
