How did the Cleveland Browns fare in the 2017 NFL Draft?

The 2017 NFL Draft has come and gone and now it is time for review. Of course, it will be easier to look back in a few years and really find out how these players fit and transitioned to their new roles. But as a whole you can understand team philosophies and processes that deserve to be examined upon first glance. With that being said, here is the Cleveland Browns’ final grade.

1

Myles Garrett

Edge Rusher, Texas A&M

This one does not need to be dissected too hard. They took the highest upside player at one of the three most important positions in the game. The hope is that the Hue Jackson no-nonsense style will keep Garrett from being your typical bust.

25

Jabrill Peppers

Safety, Michigan

Many do not know the position of Peppers, but he is a player. Peppers is very disciplined and keeps his lane while tackling at great angles. He has to learn to take on blocks better, but they can move him around from the slot, to the box to the deep part of the field. He can add in special teams and on offense and the versatility does justify the pick.

29

David Njoku

Tight End, Miami

The Browns destroyed the first round. They took three high upside athletes with all of the ability to be elite tier players at their position. Njoku is a stud with the ball in his hands and while he is raw as a blocker and route runner, the upside is phenomenal, and that of a generational talent.
