Washington Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon had a monster day against the New York Mets, makes history in the process.

Anthony Rendon had a day for the ages at the plate, accomplishing a feat that baseball has not seen in the last 68 years. Rendon tore the cover off the ball against every Mets pitcher he faced today, finishing with a final line of five runs, three home runs, 10 RBI and was a perfect six-for-six at the plate.

Coming into today’s game, Rendon had been struggling to a tune of only a .226 batting average, with five runs and five RBI, and no home runs. However, he brought his batting average up to a cool .278 after today’s monster game and crushed his first three home runs on the young season. Rendon’s amazing game at the plate sparked the Nationals in a game where they scored 23 runs as a team to defeat the Mets.

This is exactly the type of game that can get a player going at the plate, so pitchers beware of Rendon’s bat for the foreseeable future.

The Nationals capped off a dominant first month of the season in style with their rout of the Mets today. They currently sit atop the NL East division with a record of 17-8, and that also happens to be good for the best record in baseball at the moment.

Washington just lost a key piece in their lineup when outfielder Adam Eaton tore his ACL during last night’s game against these same Mets, but they have enough firepower in their lineup to be able to stomach a loss of this size to their respective team.
