A DC Comics streaming service is launching next year. What original programming should it have? Here are 10 ideas for that …

A new streaming service entirely based around the properties of DC Comics is coming our way next year. And we already have shows to look forward to in the form of a renewed Young Justice cartoon and a live-action series based on Teen Titans.

Obviously, though, you are going to need so much more if you want this kind of service to succeed. And certainly there is a nice catalogue of DC shows and movies to put on such a service. But what I think will really make or break this service is new and original content. New shows we either haven’t seen before with heroes we haven’t seen before or bringing back properties that have had a chance but probably deserve a new life on this service.

Here are 10 shows I think must be made for DC Comics’ upcoming streaming service. I should note I do not think Batman or Superman or Wonder Woman should have their own shows, but assuming it’s allowed, liberal use of them on any of these or other shows would be great.

10. Justice Society Of America

While you’ve seen snippets of heroes in the past in shows such as Legends of Tomorrow, there’s never really been a superhero show that’s also a period piece. That might be the ideal setup for a show based around the superhero team known as the Justice Society of America, more commonly just referred to as the “JSA.” There’s nothing wrong with a show featuring some version of the team in modern times, but this would be something that helps set it apart from all the other superhero TV shows already out there.

And there are a lot of interesting directions you could go with this on a DC Comics streaming network. They could just have it be original adventures of the team with no real connection to other shows. That would totally work. But I think a real interesting idea might be to take a cue from what has happened to the team in Legends of Tomorrow. The team was disbanded (and many of them are now dead) to protect the Spear of Destiny and now they have to rebuild in their time.

How do the remaining members approach that? It would be a really interesting angle and something that would stand out on a network bound to be overloaded with superhero shows.
