Denver Broncos’ newly acquired running back Jamaal Charles is wasting no time in stirring the pot against former team and now rival, Kansas City Chiefs.

Well, that escalated quickly. Mere hours after signing a one-year, $3.75 million contract, new Denver Broncos running back Jamaal Charles is already firing shots at the rival Kansas City Chiefs. After nine years with the Chiefs, Charles is ready to cut the cord.

Injury concerns with Charles led his former team to consider moving forward. During his time in Kansas City, Charles ran for more than 7,200 yards, including five 1,000-yard seasons. A knee injures in the last two seasons limited the former All-Pro to only 404 yards in eight games. Not what the Chiefs were looking for in the running back position.

So Charles had to move on. And he signed with arguably the team’s biggest rival. It took no time for him to show his loyalty.

For Chiefs’ fans, that has to sting. One of the best players in the team’s history not only leaves for their rival but slaps them in the face during a conference call.  Then, Charles pours a bit of salt and alcohol on the wound by saying, “They say it’s a business, but it’s personal as well,” according to Pro Football Talk’s Darin Gantt.

Now, Charles will get to face his former team twice this year. The first game will be on Monday Night Football on October 30 in Kansas City. The teams finish the season in Denver on December 31.

If Charles is healthy for both games, it will be must see television. Any and all goodwill he had with the city is now gone. His colors are now orange and blue. He may get black-and-blue on October 31.
