The Detroit Tigers have officially activated Miguel Cabrera off the 10-day disabled list. John Hicks was sent down to AAA in a corresponding move.

The Tigers are finally getting back their star first baseman, Miguel Cabrera. He was activated off the 10-day disabled list Wednesday afternoon, and John Hicks was sent down to AAA to clear a roster spot for him. Hicks did a good job filling in for Cabrera, by hitting for a .423 average, and accounting for 7 RBI’s in his short stint with the team.

Cabrera wasn’t off to a good start to his standards, as he was only batting with a .268 average before he got hurt. His track record certainly suggests that better days are ahead, as he has become a consistent .300 average hitter over the course of his incredible career. The 11 time All-Star will look to help his team win more games consistently, as they have been struggling so far to find any.

Detroit is currently 13-12, but fortunately for them the rest of their division has been inconsistent as well. They currently sit back one game behind the AL defending champs, the Cleveland Indians. Cabrera has been sidelined since April 21, when he suffered a groin injury. With one month of the 2017 season already finished, Detroit is hoping to find their groove and finish atop the AL Central division for the first time since 2014.

Coming off a four game losing streak, Detroit has won their last two games against the Chicago White Sox, and the Cleveland Indians. The Tigers will continue their current series against the Indians tonight in Detroit, with their best player back in their lineup.
