The Utah Jazz (51-31) will head to Oakland to face the Golden State Warriors (67-15) in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

Until this season, the Utah Jazz hadn’t made the playoffs since 2012. Until yesterday’s Game 7 win over the Los Angeles Clippers, they hadn’t won a playoff series since 2010.

The Jazz were able to win a series-deciding game without arguably their most important player. Defensive stalwart Rudy Gobert dealt with foul trouble — he had three before the 10:00 mark of the second quarter. He fouled out in the fourth quarter, finishing with one point and four rebounds in only 13 minutes.

But now, they get the Golden State Warriors — the 67-win Warriors, the fresh-off-a-sweep Warriors, the just-had-a-week-off Warriors. The Jazz climbed the hill to get to the second round. Now they have to climb the tallest mountain.

For a fan, any series win naturally comes with it a burst of pride and, perhaps, lapses into grandeur. Since the Jazz won Game 7 over the Clips, fans have taken to social media, determined to present their case for why the Jazz can beat the Warriors. Unfortunately most, including Vegas, doesn’t think there’s much of a chance:

For non-gamblers: -4000 odds mean you’d have to place a $4,000 bet on the Warriors to win just $100. Conversely, a $100 bet on the Jazz yields a $1,700 payout, so if you’re feeling frisky, why not?

The Warriors took two of three in the regular season series. Their loss came in Game 81 — snapping a 14-game winning streak — where head coach Steve Kerr opted to rest his starters in the fourth quarter. Yet the Jazz were shorthanded, too, missing Gordon Hayward and Rodney Hood. With injuries suffered on both sides throughout the season, we haven’t gotten a clear picture of the matchup and if the Jazz can win four of the next seven games. At worst, even if the Jazz don’t win, this could be a competitive series.

Projected starting lineups

Jazz: George Hill, Joe Ingles, Gordon Hayward, Boris Diaw and Rudy Gobert

Warriors: Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Zaza Pachulia
