Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and COO Stephen Jones acknowledged their desire to have NFL examine policy on marijuana.
It is one of the most talked-about and controversial topics in all of sports, but high profile owners and front office personnel are starting to speak out. They want the National Football League to overhaul its stance on players’ usage of marijuana. With players failing mandatory drug tests due to marijuana, in addition to more legalization of the narcotic throughout the states, the conversations are heating up. Now, pro-marijuana supporters have majors backers.
That would be Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his son, team COO Stephen Jones.
Reported by Mike Florio of NBC, Jerry Jones communicated his concerns with his partners and office staff. Now, his son stated similar beliefs in an interview with Pro Football Talk (PFT) Live, acknowledging that it is time to take a careful look at the policy.
"Well, our system, our testing, has been in place for years and not unlike we do in our organization . . . we always look to see how we can do it better. I think Jerry’s opinion, my opinion, is this program, this system has been in place for a long time. I think it needs to be heavily scrutinized in terms of its results."
Concerns over the method of testing and the discipline handed down are part of the outcry over the long-standing policy. However, with players, like Ezekiel Elliott, being able to walk into a store that sells marijuana legally in Denver, adjustments will be on the agenda.

Until then, the talk will continue.
