DraftKings NBA Picks May 3

We have two more conference semifinals for our DraftKings tournament tonight with two more Game 2’s on schedule. We have a lot of high priced players to choose from. How many can we roster and still get value from value players? Let’s put something together!

More from DFS

Yesterday the money line was up to 265.75 DraftKings points. That was largely due to huge games from John Wall and Isaiah Thomas. My lineup was comfortably in the money thanks to Thomas. I even survived a disappointing 13 from Joe Ingles to hit 282.5 DraftKings points.

Once again, there was a three way tie atop the leaderboard at 344.5 DraftKings points. All three of the lineups had Wall, Thomas, and Draymond Green along with great value David West.

Apr 16, 2017; Houston, TX, USA; Houston Rockets guard James Harden (13) reacts after a play in game one of the first round of the 2017 NBA Playoffs against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Toyota Center. Mandatory Credit: Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports /

PG: Kyrie Irving ($7,800): Irving put up 47 DraftKings points in the opener against Toronto, meaning he went well over value and over the point total of Kyle Lowry. The Raptors couldn’t really stop Cleveland. The Cavs really have their number. Toronto needs to figure some things out, but I don’t think it happens here. Maybe in Game 3, depending on how down they are from getting trampled in Cleveland.

SG: James Harden ($10,800): Despite what was a slower night for Harden points-wise, he still hit 51.75 on the DraftKings scale in just 31 minutes. I don’t expect the Spurs to get blown out at home again, so I expect the Rockets to need Harden’s scoring in this one for closer to 40 minutes of court time. That should put him well above 5x value.

G: Danny Green ($3,600): I like what I saw as far as shot volume from Green, even though most of them didn’t go in. If he is going to be shooting that much – and lets face it, he needs to – I like the potential that he has if he even hits 40% of his shots. The Spurs need production from someone besides Kawhi Leonard, or this is going to be a very short series.

SF: Trevor Ariza ($5,100): Ariza decimated the Spurs from downtown in Game 1. I don’t expect a repeat performance, but expecting Ariza to hit half the shots that he did in Game 1 seems a modest goal. If he can do that, Ariza will still hit 5x value.

PF: Patrick Patterson ($2,700): Patterson was well worth this price in Game 1. He provides good, solid bench minutes. All I am looking for here is someone that wont get me single digits. Patterson has 33.75 DraftKings points in his last two games. The Raptors should keep using him around 20 minutes per game, which is ample time for him to crack double figures.

F: LeBron James ($11,700): James put up 58.5 DraftKings points in Game 1, which was his lowest total in the playoffs. That is how good he has been. Fading James is even more of a risk than fading Russell Westbrook was in the first round. Get your separation elsewhere. You need his 60 points.

C: Tristan Thompson ($5,000): Thompson had a big game in Game 1, posting 37 DraftKings points. That was his playoff high, and one of his highest totals of the season! When we see something like this, we wonder what the odds are of his repeating it. I would say he wont quite get that high, but 30 DraftKings points is within reach. He almost averaged that against the Raptors during the regular season.

UTIL: P.J. Tucker ($3,300): Tucker was one of the few Raptors that was consistently hitting shots in Game 1. He was 6-11 from the floor, and also picked up 11 rebounds. They need him to play at that level along with the production that they normally get from DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry. I just have the suspicion that if DeRozan’s numbers go up that Tucker’s will decrease significantly. That said, for this price, I will take the chance that Tucker comes somewhere close to his Game 1 value. Even if he fails, he should still get 5x value.
