Watch Law & Order: SVU season 18, episode 17 online
False allegations lead to real human trafficking in this week’s Law & Order: SVU. Here’s how you can watch season 18, episode 17 live, on TV and online.
This week’s episode of NBC‘s Law & Order: SVU is one that will appeal to fans both on and off camera, so here’s what you need to know to watch it live.
Season 18, episode 17 is called “Real Fake News” and it gets that title because Lieutenant Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and her team start the episode trying to disprove the fake reports that a congressman is involved in some dubious behavior. But in so doing, they stumble on to a real sex trafficking ring.
That means Benson and Detective Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) find themselves targeted, their personal lives plastered all over the internet. And when things get personal, Benson will stop at nothing to bust the bad guys (even moreso than usual).
And in a bit of Law & Order trivia, the congressman who starts all this in motion is played by actor James Waterston, who’s the son of Sam Waterston — who, of course, played Jack McCoy on Law & Order for all but four of the show’s 20 seasons. That’s pretty neat.
Here’s how NBC officially describes the episode:
"A congressman falsely accused of soliciting underage girls asks SVU to debunk the rumor, but the investigation leads to a real sex trafficking ring. Meanwhile, Benson and Rollins become the targets of a salacious website."
