Taking a look at when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released so fans know just how long they have to wait to see Star Lord, Groot and so on again

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to hit theaters on Friday, May 5 and Marvel’s latest addition promises to be enthralling. The first Guardians film still stands unique in both it’s tone, heroic personalities and perhaps even quality. That should all continue in the sequel and be delightful in progressing things in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). What’s more, it will also progress towards Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Considering we are just at the release date for Vol. 2, the details surrounding the third installment in the trilogy are scarce. However, there are a few things that we do know. For one, there will definitely beGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. What’s more, director James Gunn will return for the third film, completing his trilogy, as he’s the one who confirmed the movie’s existence.

Obviously with the ever-expanding MCU, there will be a great deal that happens until the third Guardians movie comes out. We’ll see them in that time, though. They’ve been confirmed to be appearing in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War (set for release in May 2018). What’s more, their inclusion in that film likely means they’ll appear in the Avengers release slated for 2019.

However, we know that appearances for fight scenes are far different than a standalone film. While the Avengers films are great, it’s hard to top honing in on one superhero for the length of an entire feature film. With that being said, Vol. 2 is most certainly going to spark excitement about the forthcoming Vol. 3. So then, when will Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 come out?

Frankly, we don’t yet know the exact answer to that. However, looking at the Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Release Schedule that was released, we can get a good idea. There are three “Untitled Marvel” films slated for 2020. The current tentative release dates for those films are May 1, 2020Aug. 7, 2020 and Nov. 6, 2020. Thus we can safely assume one of those is the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 release date.

Simply based off of the release of Vol. 2, the best bet would probably be the May 1 release date in three years. However, that’s simply conjecture and guesswork not based on any real information. Regardless, we’ll unfortunately have to wait a while for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to come out.
