Tony Parker injury update: Left leg injury, MRI on Thursday
The Spurs provided an update on Tony Parker’s knee injury from the fourth quarter of Game 2, and it doesn’t look good for the point guard.
Tony Parker suffered a knee injury in the fourth quarter of Game 2 between the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets, and it does not bode well for San Antonio’s point guard.
Parker fell awkwardly on his left knee attempting a floater early in the fourth against the Rockets, and immediately felt the pain of the injury. The point guard was eventually carried off the court by his Spurs teammates, and many are already fearing the worst.
The Spurs’ Twitter account quickly gave an update on Parker’s situation, and said he will have an MRI on Thursday to figure out the severity of the injury.
Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich was asked about Parker’s injury and how bad it was, and the coach didn’t seem to be thinking positively about it.
Parker, at 34 years old, is a four-time NBA Finals champion, along with six All-Star Game appearances in his career. Depending on the severity of his injury and what the rehabbing process would be like, it could possibly be the end of Parker’s accolade-filled career with the Spurs.

The point guard will hopefully find out what’s wrong with his knee on Thursday, and the team will be forced to evaluate the situation from there. After being embarrassed 126-99 in Game 1, the team bounced back with a 121-99 win, but will wonder at what cost their win came. Losing their starting point guard is a big piece to be without, especially as they adapt to postseason life without Tim Duncan.
The Spurs and Rockets will meet again for Game 3 on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. ET, and if Parker is unable to go in the game, San Antonio’s Patty Mills will move into the starting spot in the Spurs lineup.
