Lonzo Ball released his first signature shoe through the Ball family’s Big Baller Brand, and Twitter was quick to react to the highly-anticipated release.

Lonzo Ball and the Ball family have made waves recently for their failed attempts at getting signed by some of the big name companies in sports, like Nike, Under Armour, and Adidas. Now, the 19-year-old decided to take matters into his own hands.

Through the Ball family’s Big Baller Brand, the Lonzo Ball Z02 was released on Thursday, and will have a retail price of $495, more than double the price of many of LeBron James, Steph Curry, and other star players’ shoes with companies like Nike and Under Armour.

Ball will become the first player to have his own, independently made signature shoe going into the NBA Draft, where he’s expressed and also received interest in heading to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The shoe was announced in a video from SLAM Magazine, with Ball talking about  showcasing the shoe and colorway.

Twitter was obviously quick to react to (and roast) Ball’s new footwear, which also includes a flip-flop entitled the Z02 Slide for $220. While some offered positive thoughts about the black and gold shoe, others were quick to bust out the jokes at the expense of the 19-year-old. Here’s how Twitter reacted to the whole situation:

While many will trash on the shoe and the Big Baller Brand as a whole, the Ball family is surely loving all of the talk, both positive and negative. Regardless of whether or not fans like the shoe, it is garnering attention for the 19-year-old who hopes to be an early pick in the NBA Draft.

The hype will give the family more money, publicity and make them a household name, which is what they’ve been attempting to do, especially in the last few months.
