The Jazz will be without their point guard in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals. Utah has ruled George Hill out for their next matchup against the Warriors.

The Utah Jazz are faced with the seemingly impossible task of defeating the Golden State Warriors four times in a best of seven series. Their slim odds just got a whole lot worse. After losing Game 1 of the series 106-94, the Jazz will be short-handed heading into the next game of the series. Starting point guard George Hill has been ruled out for Game 2 of the series.

The Utah Jazz released the news regarding the status of Hill.

Shelvin Mack and Dante Exum will now be tasked with trying to replace George Hill. Mack played 21 minutes in the game one loss to Golden State. Mack, a five-year veteran from Butler, has been a quality backup point guard the past few years. Exum, on the other hand, played 12 minutes in Game 1. After being selected No. 5 overall in the 2014 NBA Draft, now would be a great time to prove he was worthy of a high draft selection. Exum, 21, has been underwhelming in his brief NBA career thus far averaging 6.2 points per game this season.

Jazz All-Star forward Gordon Hayward recently spoke about how the rest of his team has to raise their level of play without Hill on the floor.

Hill, 31, is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. The Jazz could have a difficult time retaining him and keeping this the veteran supporting cast together around their young core. Hill’s defense and shooting have been hugely important for the Jazz all season long and they’ll definitely miss him in Game 2
