A look at the information you’ll need to watch Canelo Alvarez vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on Saturday night

On Saturday, May 6, HBO Boxing will touch back down in Las Vegas to bring fight fans the catchweight bout between Canelo Alvarez vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. live from the T-Mobile Arena.

Fight fans have been waiting a long time for this one, as it showcases two of the most polarizing boxing figures that the country of Mexico has to offer. It’s been quite a while since we saw a fight that had Mexican fans buzzing like this, so hopefully it delivers.

Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs), was last seen decimating Liam Smith with a ninth-round TKO in September, earning the WBO light middleweight title in the process. This victory pushed his win streak to six straight, which includes dominating performances against Amir Khan and Miguel Cotto.

Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs), son of retired boxing champion Julio César Chávez, will be looking to push his win streak to three straight. In his most recent bouts, fans saw him earn back-to-back decisions over Dominik Britsch and Marcos Reyes.

Also appearing on the card will be the David Lemieux (37-3, 33 KOs) vs. Marco Reyes (35-4, 26 KOs) and Lucas Matthysse (37-4, 34 KOs) vs. Emmanuel Taylor (20-4, 14 KOs).
