The Ducks pulled off the impossible in double overtime in Game 5, as they completed a three-goal comeback with Corey Perry’s game-winner.

The Anaheim Ducks made history on Saturday night (or Sunday morning in any other timezone in the United States), completing a three-goal comeback against the Edmonton Oilers with Corey Perry’s double overtime game-winner.

The Ducks scored three goals in three minutes and one second, all with their goalie pulled, to tie the game after being down 3-0 in the third.

After a scoreless first overtime, the Ducks seemingly had enough of the marathon game, and Corey Perry put an end to the madness after a beautiful pass from Ryan Getzlaf.

Edmonton goalie Cam Talbot had a historic night on his own, putting up 60 saves for the Oilers. However, the netminder let up four unanswered in the comeback, and made several mistakes late in the game, possibly from fatigue.

The Ducks became the second team in NHL Playoff history to force overtime when they were trailing by three goals with less than four minutes left in regulation. Ironically, the Oilers were the only other team to pull off the feat, winning a 4-3 game in overtime against the Dallas Stars in 1997.

The Oilers will be forced to bounce back from the tough blown lead in Game 5, but also will have to readjust their game-plan after also blowing a 2-0 series lead. After losing three straight to the Ducks, Edmonton finds themselves fighting for their season in Game 6 in Edmonton on Sunday.

On the other side, the Ducks have the chance to win their fourth straight in this series, and are looking to close out the series and advance to the Western Conference finals. Either way, after the comeback they witnessed tonight, the fans in Anaheim are guaranteed at least one more home game to root on their Ducks.
