Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers inspired his teammates to donate their playoff bonuses to team staff members.
Damian Lillard and his Trail Blazer teammates received approximately $223,864 to be divided between them for making the playoffs. Instead of collecting the money for themselves, Lillard convinced his teammates to donate it to the team’s support staff members.
Every NBA team that qualified for the playoffs received this bonus, but Lillard and his teamamtes made an incredible gesturethe staff members surely appreciated. Lillard explained how the team’s staff members deserve to be compensated for all that they do for the team, including preparation and trying to make the players lives easier.
Portland’s players have reportedly been doing this for a few years now, as former player Chris Kaman pitched the idea before the 2014-15 season, per theScore.com. Kaman challenged Lillard to keep the tradition alive once he become the leader of the locker room. Lillard certainly kept it alive, and every player did their part in ensuring the teams staff members were rewarded for their hard work. Lillard has been one of the NBA’s best young players since he entered the league before the 2012-13 season.

He has been the unquestioned leader of the Trail Blazers the last few seasons, and has upped his scoring average each season that he entered the league.
