After scoring a goal late in regulation to tie the game, the Ottawa Senators took a 3-2 series lead over the New York Rangers with an overtime goal from Kyle Turris.

Deep into the third period on Saturday afternoon, the Ottawa Senators were on the verge of a home loss to the New York Rangers and a 3-2 series deficit going back to the Big Apple. But with 1:26 left in regulation, center Derick Brassard tied the score at four to shift the momentum back Ottawa’s way again during a back-and-forth three periods of action.

After posting 55 points during the regular season (27 goals and 28 assists, Senators center Kyle Turris did not score a goal in this year’s playoffs until Game 6 in the first round against the Boston Bruins. But he scored in Game 4 against the Rangers, and made his presence felt with game-high nine hits in Game 5 on Saturday.

But at the 6:28 mark of overtime, it was Turris’ third shot on goal of the game that made the biggest impact.

Turris now has three goals in these playoffs, and Ottawa can move on to the Eastern Conference Finals with a win in Game 6 on Tuesday night. A date with the Pittsburgh Penguins or the Washington Capitals would await the Senators with a Stanley Cup Final bid on the line, though the Penguins have a 3-1 series lead and can clinch with a win of their own in Game 5 on Saturday night.
