The BIG3 launches a new fantasy website for the league.
The BIG3 has generated a lot of interest since Ice Cube announced the creation of the 3-on-3 basketball league that starts this summer. NBA fans get a chance to feel nostalgic and watch Allen Iverson, Jason Williams and other former NBA stars return to the court.
There are also elite former players who will be coaching in the league, including Julius Erving, George Gervin and Gary Payton. When you add all of this together, you have the makings of a league that will fill a big void for basketball fans during the NBA offseason.
Another void that will be filled by the league is that of fantasy basketball. Saturday, the BIG3 announced it has created its own website to play.

While details about the fantasy league are still unknown, this could provide a significant boost for the BIG3. Fantasy contests have helped to generate a lot of added interest in other major professional sports.
Looking at the structure of the league, it would seem that these fantasy leagues will be much smaller than fantasy players are used to. There are eight teams with five players on each team, leaving a total of 40 players to choose from.
The rules of the league also add some fantasy intrigue. Not only is it half-court action, but there will also be a four-point shot. The games are not timed as the first team to 60 points wins, though teams must win by at least four points.

For those who play fantasy basketball, this announcement today is sweet music to their ears. Who wouldn’t want a chance to draft Iverson again? Maybe owning Kwame Brown won’t actually kill your hopes of a fantasy championship this time around?
This does still leave one question to be answered though: what about daily fantasy contests? Your move, FanDuel and DraftKings.
