DraftKings NBA Picks May 7

We are up to three games for our Sunday, which will be the largest NBA DraftKings tournament left this year. Unless of course you want to play a multi-day one with no late swap. How will the extra players added to the pool affect our lineups? Well, for one thing, we will see several differences between star ownership. Which ones am I playing? Not the ones you may think!

More from DFS

The money line on Friday was at 260, which was a little ways up. The ineffectiveness of Channing Frye and Ryan Anderson ruined mine. I still got close thanks to the LeBron/Kawhi stack.

There were SIX winning lineups, all at 319.5 DraftKings points. They all had one thing in common: Value from Jonathon Simmons and Clint Capela, along with James Harden and DeMar DeRozan.

PG: Patrick Beverley ($5,000):Ā Here it comes down to Beverley or Patty Mills. Frankly, neither one are a bad option, but Dejounte Murray is starting over Mills, and Beverley plays more minutes. He hasn’t been able to match the production from the Oklahoma City series, but he is still routinely getting in the high 20’s for DraftKings points. He is a slightly safer option now, but Mills may have the higher upside.

SG: James Harden ($10,900):Ā Harden had his best game of the series in a losing effort in Game 3. The Rockets desperately need him to do this again and for someone else to step up alongside him. LeBron is too expensive when Harden and Leonard put up the same kind of numbers for $1,500 less.

G: Cory Joseph ($4,000):Ā Joseph was still a strong option even with Kyle Lowry back. I don’t think Lowry is quite 100%. Even if Lowry starts, Joseph should still be a solid play at the price point. He will still lead the second unit. He just doesn’t have the upside he did over the last two games.

UTIL: Danny Green ($4,200):Ā I am going with Green here just because he has been a solid part of the team during the Houston series. He has seen a bit of a bump in playing time with Tony Parker out, but has seen more of a bump in usage. This is a well the Spurs will continue going to until it dries up. Let’s hope that isn’t tonight. I am going Green over Bojan Bogdanovic because I don’t expect lightning to strike two games in a row.

SF: Kawhi Leonard ($10,800):Ā Leonard has come up huge in the last two games for the Spurs as they have taken control of the series. He is a better bargain at the price than LeBron James, and a bit more reliable that James Harden. Both Harden and LBJ have more upside, but Leonard is the solid foundation that you need to vault you into the money.

PF: Otto Porter ($6,100):Ā Otto Porter has been huge in the series with Boston. He has 108.5 DraftKings points in the first three games, which puts him near 6x value. That is increasingly harder to get, especially with consistency, in the playoffs. Porter is as good as gold right now.

F:Ā Norman Powell ($4,600):Ā Toronto figured out that their small lineup was more effective against Cleveland as well, so Powell should continue to see around 30 minutes a game. If he does, there is no reason that he can’t hit value from this price point. I’m not saying that Toronto is going to win a game, but they should put up a solid fight at least.

C: Jonas Valanciunas ($4,400):Ā Valanciunas is thriving off the bench in the last two games, probably because he doesn’t have to deal with Tristan Thompson all the time. I wanted exposure to two big names, so I went with JoVal instead of Clint Capela to save money. I simply couldn’t find anyone in the 3000-3500 range that didn’t make me question my entire lineup.
