Ricky Stenhouse Jr. picked up the first victory of his career at the 2017 GEICO 500 on Sunday.

There are very few tracks that are like Talladega. Whether it’s the big one or the ability to produce first-time winners, it’s always the most unpredictable race of the season every single year. On Sunday, an overtime finish led to the first win of Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s career.

With the big one striking and wiped out most of the field near the end of the race, a red flag led to everyone left on the track having a shot at the win. Kyle Busch was on his way to a victory, but a late caution meant he had to line up one more time.

After the restart, Jimmie Johnson wasn’t able to get the help he needed and fell back to the pack. Jamie McMurray threaded the needle to make things interesting and that gave Stenhouse enough to make a serious push on Busch.

As Stenhouse went by, it was simply all about holding on for the first win of his career. There aren’t many tracks quite like Talladega and he had to do one last dive to block Busch for the victory as the crowd cheered. Here is the complete finishing order from the GEICO 500.
