The Nashville Predators and their fans are feeling good after advancing to their first ever conference finals, but their local news station got a little too excited.

The Nashville Predators won 3-1 against the St. Louis Blues in Game 6 on Sunday and made history as they advanced to their franchise’s first-ever Western Conference finals. The team’s players and fans alike were obviously all very excited for this new experience, but one local news station definitely wasn’t prepared for this inaugural achievement in Nashville.

As the local NBC affiliate WSMV showed shots of fans outside of Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, their production team had a small mishap, putting up a graphic reading, “Preds head to Stanley Cup Finals!”

While many fans are obviously hoping that headline can make its way through the city in a few weeks, it’s very much not true at the moment. The Predators await the winner of the Anaheim Ducks-Edmonton Oilers conference semifinals, and will have to go through them in order to win the conference and play in the Stanley Cup Final.

The Predators are currently on a very impressive run in the 2017 playoffs, after sweeping the top-seeded Chicago Blackhawks in an impressive upset, and then rolling over the Blues in the semifinals. As the team with the lowest record of any Western Conference playoff team, their performance has been shocking to say the least.

Fans in Nashville had the experience of seeing their team close out the series with the Blues on Sunday in their home arena, and will get to experience their first conference final in Bridgestone Arena in franchise history.

Hopefully, the local NBC affiliate didn’t permanently jinx their Predators, and the whole situation boils over soon. If the team falls apart in the Western Conference finals, at least fans will have someone to point their fingers at and blame.
