3. Overestimate your family’s net worth

Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson. Those are some of the names of basketball players who signed major deals with shoe companies. LeBron James signed the biggest of them all, a $1 billion deal.

When his son Lonzo went to meet with the big brands (Nike, Adidas, etc.), LaVar went into the meetings with his son, prepared to walk out with one “B” ($1 billion). In fact, LaVar demanded $1 billion from each company and in return, the companies would have exclusive brand rights to LaVar’s three kids along with the BBB (Big Baller Brand).

Now, we can all certainly understand where LaVar is coming from with this one, but c’mon man. Other than Lonzo, who has yet to even be drafted, none of his kids are proven at even a collegiate level. LiAngelo and LaMelo are still in high school. Essentially, LaVar wants brands like Nike to set aside $1 billion to a group of somewhat unproven kids.

You can hand it to LaVar — his crazy, unique marketing technique is Trump-like. LaVar has joined the “no news is bad news” group and man, is it working.

LaVar and his family are all about the B’s, but this “B” will have to wait, not just for LaVar, but for nearly every baller.
