5 simple ways to tell if you’re a Big Baller
2. Say you can beat some of the game’s greatest
Whether or not LaVar Ball truly believes he can beat Michael Jordan or Charles Barkley is beyond me.
Only the big man himself can tell.
I understand that the marketing is working, LaVar has appeared on national television shows such as ESPN’s First Take, but this claim is too far-fetched. Not only did LaVar claim he could beat Jordan and Barkley, he stated that he’s never lost a one-on-one game.
Stop it, LaVar, everybody has been defeated one-on-one at some point.
LaVar stated that he’s too big and strong for MJ. I see where he’s going, but LaVar seems to forget, we’re talking about a man who’s dunked on Dikembe Mutombo. Multiple times.
Jordan played in one of the most physical era’s basketball has ever witnessed. I’m pretty sure he can handle someone a little bigger than him (in weight; Jordan and Ball are roughly the same height) not to mention Jordan is surely significantly more versatile.
Oh yeah, and Jordan’s, you know, one of the top two players to ever step onto a basketball court.
But the banter doesn’t stop there.
LaVar also began insulting Charles Barkley’s game. Barkley then challenged Ball to a one-on-one game, an offer in which Ball disrespectfully and indirectly declined by insulting the TNT analyst’s weight.
I guess LaVar’s turning down of The Round Mound of Rebound’s challenge exposes the legitimacy, or in this case illegitimacy, of LaVar’s claims. Surprisingly, this trait finishes runner-up to what is quite possibly the most important trait of being a Big Baller.
