Chelsea look to move one step closer to the Premier League title when they face Middlesbrough on Monday. Middlesbrough sit 19th in the league, six points behind Hull and safety. If Boro are going to survive relegation, they’ll likely have to win their three remaining games.
Chelsea went to Goodison Park and defeated Everton 3-0 in their last game. The Blues opened the scoring in the 66th minute when Pedro curled a beautiful shot into the top corner. Gary Cahill scored on an Eden Hazard free-kick. In the 86th minute, Willian locked up the win, scoring an easy goal off of a Cesc Fabregas pass.
Middlesbrough were able to get a point off of Manchester City on Sunday. Alvaro Negredo opened the scoring for Boro with his third goal in the past six games. The referee awarded City a penalty after a Leroy Sane dive in the box and Sergio Aguero scored from the spot. Calum Chambers gave Middlesbrough the lead again, but Gabriel Jesus tied the game in the 85th minute. Middlesbrough deserved to win the game but had to settle for the draw.

Chelsea defeated Boro 1-0 in their first meeting this season. The Blues are significantly more talented than Middlesbrough and should win by a larger margin at Stamford Bridge, but given how desperate Boro are, a surprise isn’t off the table.
