Dubbed the “LeBron James of lacrosse,” Paul Rabil, has had a lot of success as an entrepreneur and player. He now hopes to be similarly successful in the podcast world.

Paul Rabil seems to have found an eighth day of the week, or extra hours in the day. Being the face of professional lacrosse in the United States, running his own charity foundation, investing in or operating multiple businesses and making YouTube content simply weren’t enough to fill his time. Rabil is now getting into podcasting as well with the launch of “Suiting Up.”

“You don’t have to work long hours if you know how to get done what you need to get done efficiently,” Rabil stated. “I know how to contribute what I’m best at and then empower my team of people who I trust to handle the rest.”

It’s that same efficiency which has led Rabil to be named the 2015 Person of the Year by Lacrosse Magazine and a speaker at Forbes’ 30 Under 30 conference in 2016 that Rabil will bring to Suiting Up. The podcast will be a weekly interview by Rabil with professional athletes like Derek Jeter and Michael Phelps about balancing athletics and off-field interests like a business.

So many professional athletes end up with financial problems after or even during their careers, and because of that Rabil thinks athletes learning how to take advantage of their on-field notoriety to power off-field interests is crucial.

“It’s really an unfair advantage that you have to use like you would an unfair advantage on the field,” Rabil explained. “Building a business takes a lot of promotion and the sport provides a lot of that.”

The experience that Rabil and his interviewees will share in the podcast is for more than just professional athletes. Rabil is crafting his content at young entrepreneurs as well.

“The traditional audio media audience is older,” Rabil elaborated. “Our audience, however, is definitely skewing younger. We will talk about how you can build your personal brand and all the lessons we have learned from overcoming the challenges of building our own businesses.”

Rabil’s experience in brand-building qualifies him to speak on the subject. In addition to his vast social media following, Rabil’s products for athletes and endorsement contracts with athletic gear companies are all built around his image and person. While Rabil and his companies have certainly benefitted from his fame, his hope is that his podcast and all of the rest of his off-field work will help to promote the game of lacrosse.

“It’s a very symbiotic relationship,” Rabil commented. “A lot of my products focus on lacrosse and it’s our hope that as things like this podcast grow, it will increase exposure for the game. If the game at the youth, college and professional levels continues to gain popularity, that’s good for everyone involved.”

The game of lacrosse, Rabil’s charity and the businesses that he invests in couldn’t ask for a much better ambassador than Rabil. “Suiting Up” gives Rabil one more way to spread the strategies which have made him successful, and enable others to find the same success.
