Root Sports in-market streaming for Astros, Mariners, Pirates and Rockies games now available
Fans in Denver, Houston, Pittsburgh and Seattle who subscribe to most cable or satellite television services can now stream live games of their local MLB teams on their mobile devices.
Root Sports in-market streaming is now available for Astros, Mariners, Pirates and Rockies games as the AT&T property has completed its work to overcome the technical problems with authentication that had delayed the inclusion until now.
For now, Root Sports will authenticate subscriber information using MLB Advanced Media’s servers. That means fans will be able to access the streams via MLB.com, the MLB At Bat app and team web sites.
Root Sports is currently engaged in the process of building its own authentication portal, according to Forbes’ Maury Brown.
