Adidas Baseball just dropped special edition cleats to celebrate Mother’s Day

In one of the best ways you could possibly celebrate Mother’s Day when it comes to footwear, adidas Baseball has gone ahead and unveiled a special edition adizero “Afterburner Mother’s Day” cleat.

About a month ago, adidas Baseball announced the glorious release of a cleat and accompanying training shoe to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking baseball’s color barrier.

Today — to the surprise of exactly no one — the #ThreeStripeLife delivered the heat once again, dropping the news of a special edition Mother’s Day cleat.

While there are plenty of details and explanation behind the thought that went into this well-executed design, let’s get straight to the best part.

Because this is just flat-out awesome.

Yes, each player in the adidas Baseball family can proudly say that their mother’s name was actually incorporated into the cleat’s design, which is a pretty cool gift in itself.

With 15 games slated for the special day, you can fully expect to see these fantastic “Mom shout-outs” all over MLB stadiums come this Sunday. (Note: There will be 150 adidas athletes taking the field this weekend.)

"The polka dot pattern, which was inspired by Rosie the Riveter’s iconic polka dotted bandana, evokes the strength and tenacity that characterizes mothers. Embodying the creator spirit, the tongue features a large pink polka dot that players can customize with a message to their moms.The polka dot theme continues onto the sockliner and the pink upper sits atop a full-length LITESTRIKE EVA midsole for increased cushioning and comfort. A striking pink chrome plate features a PROTRAX cleat configuration that provides dynamic acceleration and traction."

Now for a couple more looks at the cleat.

The customizable tongue is certainly a nice touch, as it appropriately allows each player to put the finishing touches on their personal tribute.

This special edition adizero Afterburner Mother’s Day cleat is now available on adidas.com and can be had for $100.

If you’re playing baseball this weekend — or even softball for that matter — do right by mom and snatch up these cleats. Or, if there’s simply no time, go ahead and paint your cleats pink.
