Rumors are circulating that Metroid Prime 4 is the next game that Retro Studios will be developing. There isn’t concrete proof, but it’s long overdue.

With E3 2017 going down next month, the rumor and speculation mill is in motion. Fans really want a number of games to have a presence at the show. Although we can always look at rumors, leaks and so on, we’ll never know anything until the announcement is official. One game is a Nintendo IP that needs to make a comeback after a few missteps the past couple of years and it’s Metroid. According to a Facebook post, developer Retro Studios may or may not be working on Metroid Prime 4.

The Facebook post comes from Alexander Brandon, who’s a composer currently working on a project over at Retro Studios. We know that he’s a huge Metroid fan and maybe, just maybe, that love for the series is why he’s taking this opportunity to compose the score for the next game. Of course, this is all just speculation, but the chances of this happening are actually pretty high.

Retro Studios is an incredible developer and we know that it’s been working on something for quite some time. A new Metroid definitely makes sense.

As Nintendo fans, we know that the company has to go big or go home at E3 this year. It’s had an incredible start with the launch of the Nintendo Switch with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Nintendo needs to keep it rolling, however, and announce an extensive lineup of video games. A game like Metroid Prime 4 would not only be awesome, but it would be a return to form.

Metroid: Other M isn’t terrible, but it isn’t what we were expecting. Then, Metroid Prime: Federation Force was made for some odd reason and it backfired. A proper Metroid Prime game needs to happen.

If we’re to get an announcement for Metroid Prime 4, we don’t expect it to release this year. It would be nice to know that it’s actually happening, though. On the bright side, we have many games to look forward to over the next couple of months. For example, ARMS, Splatoon 2, Super Mario Odyssey, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are all games that are already confirmed.

There are also many third party games, like RiME, NBA 2K18, and so on. It’s a good time to be a Nintendo fan. A new Metroid would be the icing on the cake.
