For someone as robotic as Kawhi Leonard, he showed a little bit of humanity as he missed a wide-open dunk in the second quarter of Game 5.

The San Antonio Spurs need all the help they can get from their offense in their conference semifinals series against the Houston Rockets, and Kawhi Leonard didn’t help the team’s cause.

The Spurs forward had a wide-open lane for an easy slam in the middle of the second quarter in Game 5, and something went horribly, horribly wrong.

Leonard, who many joke acts like a robot (probably because he is one), looked like he short-circuited on the attempt, as he lost the handle on the ball. The shot sailed over the basket, and Leonard managed to turn an easy two points into a turnover in the process.

Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni was obviously upset with his team’s defense on the play, and seemed more peeved about the wide-open lane than he was happy about the miss.

The Spurs can’t avoid any mistakes, as their offense has already struggled throughout the series, which is currently tied at two games a piece. Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich was ticked off about his team’s scoring ability in Game 3, and bluntly said in his mid-game interview on ESPN that he was witnessing the worst offensive performance he’d ever seen.

The team is especially lacking on offense with the injury to Tony Parker, who suffered a leg injury early in the series, and is out indefinitely. Without Parker, Leonard is one of the few who can singlehandedly take over a game for the Spurs.

After the miss, it looks like the Spurs may have to take Leonard back to the lab to figure out what broke in their star forward’s circuit board, or else we may get a few more missed dunks in this series.
