WWE SmackDown Live spoilers, May 9: Results from London
WWE SmackDown Live spoilers from O2 Arena London, England on Tuesday, May 9
SPOILER WARNING: If you don’t want WWE SmackDown Live to be spoiled, stop right here as full results from the tape-delayed show are below.
WWE SmackDown Live is finally starting to kick things into gear. After sort of standing in a holding pattern following the Superstar Shake-Up, there hasn’t been a great deal of progression. With Backlash 2017 just under two weeks away, though, that’s no longer the case. That set up a big show from O2 Arena in London, England on Tuesday, May 9.
As was the case with RAW on Monday, WWE SmackDown Live when it’s in London actually takes place well before it does in the United States. After all, there is quite a substantial time difference. Thus, it’s aired on a tape-delay stateside. What that does allow fans to do, though, is look at SmackDown Live spoilers.
Before the show began, though, we knew a few things that would be happening. Leading up to his first match, Shinsuke Nakamura would surely make an appearance. What’s more, WWE World Champion Randy Orton was billed to appear for the first time since his match at Payback. That obviously meant that Jinder Mahal would somehow be involved.
With plenty of action set for the show, it promised to be a good one. If you don’t want to wait for the show to air in the states, then don’t. Find out happens below with our WWE SmackDown Live spoilers on May 9 from London:
- Orton was out first, and he was met with a challenger as Mahal predictably came out to talk and stare him down. Mahal continues to get great heat.
- During the promo, (BIG BANTER) Baron Corbin, Kevin Owens and AJ Styles came out and started bickering, joined later by Sami Zayn — who was less interested in quarreling verbally and more interested in attacking Corbin. Corbin, Owens and Mahal vs. AJ, Zayn and Orton set for a 6-man main event tag.
- Natalya vs. Becky Lynch up next. Heel Natty had her merry crew of Tamina, Carmella and James Ellsworth out and they distracted the Lass Kicker. That allowed Natalya to win by roll-up.
- After the match a six-woman tag is set for Backlash. Becky, Charlotte and Naomi vs. Natty, Tamina and Carmella.
- Tyler Breeze is dressed as an English police officer, Fandango as Sherlock Holmes. They’re the absolute best.
- Erick Rowan vs. Luke Harper happened. Erick Rowan won. Okay…sure.
- As scheduled, Dolph Ziggler confronted Shinsuke Nakamura in the ring. The King of Strong Style wanted to go in O2 Arena, but Ziggler said he’d have to wait. Those two now have a match set for Backlash. He attacked Nakamura after the segment.
- Breezango vs. The Ascension up next with the Fashion Police prevailing.
- However, The Usos were out right after the previous match to threaten the winners regarding their match at Backlash.
- Main event time with the 6-man tag on the docket. Quite an interesting result as Mahal pinned Orton to give the team of Jinder, Owens and Corbin the win over Orton, Styles and Zayn.
There’s still a ton of work and building to be done until Backlash. However, WWE SmackDown Live has been smart with these things to this point. So it’s hard to doubt them in this instance.
