The Chicago Bulls are running a series of season highlights for different players on their roster. The Michael Carter-Williams edition was met with some skepticism.

This was not a great PR season for the Chicago Bulls. Their offseason addition of Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade were met with skepticism (especially help up against the team’s stated desire to get younger and more athletic). The team cratered in the middle of the season, played ugly, disjointed basketball, and snuck into the playoffs.

After winning the first two games in Boston, they went on to lose four in a row. Then came another tone-deaf press conference from the front office in which they appeared open to bringing back Rondo and continued their steady process of alienating Jimmy Butler.

But all that is in the past. Now it’s the lull between the end of the season and the beginning of the real offseason — the NBA Draft and free agency. The Bulls are filling that time with some player-focused reviews of the past season. Up today was the former Rookie of the Year, point guard Michael Carter-Williams.

Carter-Williams was not exactly the most popular player in Chicago this season. He shot a robust 36.6 percent from the field, 23.4 percent on 3-pointers and finished with the second-highest turnover percentage on the team. Box Plus-Minus, a box score derived estimate of a player’s net impact per 100 possessions, estimated that Carter-Williams was worth 2.4 points per 100 possessions less than an average player.

As you would expect, the replies to Chicago’s offer to view some of Carter-Williams’ “highlights” were less than enthusiastic.
