Zlatan Ibrahimovic can play ‘many years’ after knee surgery
Dr. Freddie Fu Ho-Keung, the surgeon who performed Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s knee surgery, has said that he could play ‘many years’ after surgery.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic recently underwent surgery on his knee to repair damaged ligaments suffered only a few weeks ago. Good news has emerged after undergoing surgery, and it looks like Ibrahimovic will be able to continue playing for quite some time.
There is no set timetable on the return for Ibrahimovic yet, but it likely won’t be into the start of the next season. If he re-signs with Manchester United, he will miss the preseason tour, and very likely the beginning of the 2017-18 season as well.
Dr. Freddie Fu Ho-Keung had plenty to say about Ibrahimovic, and was reserved in giving too much in the way of specifics on the surgery.
"I can’t discuss too many details, I don’t want to get in trouble with Manchester United,” said Fu. “But I can tell you he’s [Ibrahimovic] in superb shape in all things. Healthy morphology, the quality of the bone and muscle, everything is as good as you can possibly see. He’s one of the top athletes I’ve ever touched, he is in super shape.”Fu added: “He can still play for many years. He’s so healthy, so strong. Biologically, bone morphology, everything, is absolutely very healthy.”"
There has been talk about this injury ending the career of the 35-year-old Ibrahimovic, but that is looking less likely with these news emerging from his surgery. Ibrahimovic’s agent, Mino Raiola, also stated that Ibrahimovic was so strong that Dr. Fu wanted him to come back after he called it a career to research him.

Dr. Fu is one of the most accomplished knee surgeons in the world, performing over 20,000 knee surgeries on professional athletes from all sports around the world. Dr. Fu has also performed over 6,000 surgeries on the ACL alone, which was one of the two ligaments that Ibrahimovic tore. Safe to say that Ibrahimovic expects the same perfection out of his doctor’s as he does his play.
