Word has arose that Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez wants to leave to join Manchester United.

The original word came from RCN, a news publication out of Colombia. The news is that James Rodriguez wants a change in scenery, and Manchester United is his first option for relocation. While there aren’t any other Colombians currently on the United roster, there are multiple Spanish-speaking players that could easily help Rodriguez assimilate into the squad.

It is being reported that James Rodriguez and Manchester United have come to an initial agreement for the Colombian to make the move. The next step would, obviously, be to convince Real Madrid to sell their midfielder.

Rodriguez has only made 20 appearances for the Spanish giants this season in La Liga, with eight of them coming off the bench. During those twenty appearances Rodriguez has shown his clear quality with eight goals, six assists, and an 89.3% pass success rate. It is obvious that Rodriguez has the quality to play more often at a top club, and he could be just what the doctor ordered for Manchester United.

Rodriguez has also made a total of seven appearances across the UEFA Champions League and the Copa Del Rey. In his six appearances in the Champions League he has two assists. And in his lone appearance in the Copa Del Rey he scored a hat trick.

Manchester United and James Rodriguez could be a match made in heaven. Rodriguez is looking to move to ensure he plays as often as possible, which he surely would at United. Manchester United, who have only scored 51 goals in the English Premier League this season (8th in the league), would greatly benefit from the creative attacking ability that Rodriguez would bring to the squad.

There has been no confirmation from either Manchester United or Real Madrid about negotiations yet, but stay tuned for more information to come.
