Stephen A. Smith thinks someone drugged James Harden for Game 6
By Ty Finch
Stephen A Smith has long been the King of Hot Takes. His latest might be his crowning achievement.
Stephen A. Smith has had his history of hot takes. He has publicly defended Ray Rice after his ugly domestic violence incident. He has warned Kevin Durant on live television about not wanting to make an enemy out of him. Once, he insinuated that Chip Kelly might be racist. But his best take, his masterpiece, may have come after the Rockets were blown out in game 6 against the Spurs last night — James Harden may have been drugged.
Harden has struggled in the playoffs over the past couple of years. In big games he has not always delivered for his team, and, at any rate, Thursday was no different. Harden ended up with only 10 points, 7 assists and 6 turnovers in 36 minutes, shooting 2-of-11 overall. The Spurs also held him without a field goal in the first half. How might this have happened, especially considering Kawhi Leonard was out with an ankle injury? Take it away, Stephen A.
"“I think there needs to be an investigation to be quite honest with you. He looked like he was drugged out there for crying out loud. Literally comatose.…“Somebody might have slipped something into his drink. Somebody might have done something to him. I have no clue. But that is not James Harden that showed up for the Houston Rockets tonight. Somebody with his jersey showed up. It wasn’t him. I cannot believe what I saw.”"
You might need to turn on you air conditioning after that video, because this one is a scorcher, folks. For Stephen A. Smith, it’s not enough to just explain that Harden has a propensity to have these awful, team deflating games from time to time. It’s also not enough to speculate that he may have have had an injury throughout the game or the series. He has been suffering from an ankle injury throughout the playoffs, while striking his head in the first half. Might it be one of those reasons?
