A lost squirrel running on Progressive Field forced a delay as the Cleveland Indians faced the Minnesota Twins.

In the sixth inning of a Cleveland Indians loss on Saturday, frustrated fans found solace in a squirrel that ran unrestrained across the infield. The squirrel forced the game to pause in the sixth inning.

The crowd cheered and laughed as members of the Progressive Field grounds crew attempted to run it down.

Cleveland radio broadcaster poked fun at those trying to catch the squirrel by noting that “It’s not a mountain lion.”

The squirrel even found himself on the huge centerfield screen. Needless to say, the little animal stole the spotlight from the baseball players in this game.

The chase ended on the third base side of the field, but not before the squirrel made its way into the stands.

Twins manager Paul Molitor was one of the few witnesses who remained unpleased by the visitor. As the delay wore on, he had to come on to the field to tell the umpire to get the game moving.

Squirrels are no strangers to sports fields. In 2016, a squirrel ran on to Lambeau Field, which caused a long chase in the third quarter.

Even the Cleveland Indians are no stranger to squirrels running on the field during their games. During a 2014 game against the Kansas City Royals, a squirrel created an interruption. Nick Swisher even tried to catch the squirrel to no avail.

After reaching the World Series last season, the Cleveland Indians have had a frustrating start this year. As of Saturday, they are just one game above .500, but are still just two games outside of first behind the Minnesota Twins.

The only person who seemed to remain calm despite the squirrel was Twins starter Jose Berrios. Berrios threw 7.1 innings while giving up just two hits to lead his team to victory.
