LaMarcus Aldridge slams Warriors to end quarter (Video)
The San Antonio Spurs are up 20 points at halftime over the Golden State Warriors, and this dunk symbolizes the game thus far.
The Spurs have made it clear that they brought their A-game to Oakland for the Western Conference Finals. No. 2 seeded San Antonio boasted a 30-16 lead over the Warriors after one quarter of play in Game 1. It’s shocking considering the Warriors are the consensus pick to represent the Western Conference in the Finals. After all, they are 8-0 so far throughout the playoffs, and have only trailed a total of 12 minutes since the playoffs have commenced.
So far, the Warriors have looked off-balance, and are directly assisting the Spurs to a series-opening victory. In return, the Spurs are utilizing their advantage in the paint. Players like LaMarcus Aldridge, Kawhi Leonard, and Pau Gasol have been the stars tonight, helping the Spurs take a 20-point halftime lead, 62-42.
Earlier on, Alrdidge capped off the Spurs’ dynamic first quarter performance with a poster-worthy dunk. Ironically, it came off of a Warriors’ turnover, and finished with the big man flying over nearly half of the Golden State roster.
Golden State is used to demolishing teams. However, this isn’t the first time they’ve found themselves trailing to San Antonio. Matter of fact, the Warriors found themselves down by 22 after one quarter of play to the Spurs in March. Golden State was able to mount a comeback that night and leave with a 110-98 victory.
Steve Kerr was on the bench during that matchup. It will be interesting to see how a Mike Brown Warriors team reacts to adversity.
