2. Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers were another team that was involved in Anthony trade rumors this past season, and it still remains a possibility. Although Los Angeles had another early playoff exit, they still seem to be in win-now mode, and trading for Anthony would certainly help their cause.

The Clippers will have to decide between resigning Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, but it would be in their best interest if they resign Paul and allow Griffin to become a free agent. That’s where Anthony would come in as a better replacement for the team. Anthony would give the Clippers more scoring ability, he has proven to be more durable, and him and Paul have a very close relationship.

The Clippers don’t have many assets to offer, but the Knicks could get some draft picks and players like Austin Rivers, and Jamal Crawford. Doesn’t sound too appealing for the Knicks, but Anthony could again force his hand with his no-trade clause, and essentially force a trade there. The Knicks could get a starting guard for many years to come, and one of their former players in Crawford who is still productive even at this age.

Having a big three of Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, and DeAndre Jordan would certainly allow the Clippers to still compete in the Western Conference. They still wouldn’t be able to compete for a title, but it would help their chances of getting passed the first round at least.
