Tottenham will need to get over the disappointment of Chelsea wrapping up the title swiftly if they are to secure the runners-up spot this season.
They should have done so in 2015-16, but lost their way dramatically once the championship was out of reach. Mauricio Pochettino’s team will have learned from that though, and will hopefully respond more positively this time around.
Spurs lost their last match, away at West Ham, but their home form is impeccable. They have won their last 13 league matches in front of their own fans, and will be strong favorites to triumph again here.
United secured their place in the Europa League final on Thursday night, and while they can still finish in the top four, most forecasters give them less than a 10 percent chance of doing so.
It would not be a surprise to see them rest players, not least due to their injury crisis, and play defensively. A Jose Mourinho team has not scored away against a top six side since January 2015.
Spurs’ formidable defense, the best in the division, will likely ensure that this dreadful run continues. United have won 10 of their 12 away matches against sides ranked eighth or lower in the table, but it’s hard to see them winning this one.
