Tonight, it’s time for one more elimination and, of course, a lot more dancing on Dancing With the Stars’ season 24 semi-finals.
After the elimination of Heather Morris in particular on this season of Dancing With the Stars, perhaps the only more shocking elimination would be that of frontrunner Normani Kordei. It could very well happen on tonight’s episode. Let’s break down tonight’s events.
Even if Tom Bergeron didn’t explain the Judges’ Challenge much during last week’s episode, the ABC press release did. Each of the four remaining couples received direction from one of the four judges. That’s why you can see the names of each of the four judges below:
"Simone Biles & Sasha Farber – CARRIE ANN INABA – JiveRashad Jennings & Emma Slater – BRUNO TONIOLI – RumbaNormani Kordei & Valentin Chmerkovskiy – LEN GOODMAN – Viennese WaltzDavid Ross & Lindsay Arnold – JULIANNE HOUGH – Foxtrot"
Although these are just guesses, here’s what we think the judges might have said:
- Carrie Ann Inaba to Simone Biles: More emotional connection to the dance and to her partner, Sasha Farber. She might also encourage some risk-taking.
- Bruno Tonioli to Rashad Jennings: Smooth, flowing movements, building on the successes of his trio Argentine tango from last week.
- Len Goodman to Normani Kordei: In the words of Len, no “faffing about.” Viennese waltz does not lend itself to such things. He’ll want straight dancing all the way through.
- Julianne Hough to David Ross: No stomping! Having light feet is a must for foxtrot.
For the second round, it’s a lot more simple: each star has a new style to learn. Per the press release:

About the only person who might have an advantage here is Normani with jazz. Rashad with the quickstep might fare well, too. The other two have some challenges with more sensual dances like the tango and rumba.
