Nintendo isn’t planning on stopping mobile video game content any time soon. After Animal Crossing it looks like The Legend of Zelda is next.
Fresh off the major success that was The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, fans already want more of Zelda. Although the next game won’t be as huge and it probably won’t be as ground-breaking as Breath of the Wild. However, it’s still Zelda, and we’ll take that series any way it comes. According to the Wall Street Journal, after Nintendo releases Animal Crossing, it will be developing a Zelda smartphone/ mobile game.
Nintendo has been making its presence known in the mobile market. It’s no denying that it’s been extremely successful when it comes to handhelds. You can look at the GameBoy, the DS systems, and now the Nintendo Switch for reference. If Nintendo can transfer that success to mobile and smartphones in similar fashion, it will succeed. So far, it’s on the right track after releasing three games.
The most obvious example is Pokemon GO. The game was a major success upon release and to this day, there’s still a pretty solid fan base.
Of course, not every game has lived up to expectations. Miitomo had a strong start but it gradually dissipated. Then again, there isn’t much to do in that game, and that’s unfortunate. In reality, it’s a glorified social network and there’s nothing more to it.
Super Mario Run pushed things back into the right direction. It’s a shame that fans didn’t want to pay $10 for it, though. It has quite a bit of content and it’s always being supported with more. At the end of the day, it’s a Mario game, and to play a Mario game for that low of a price is honestly a steal.
The most recent release is Fire Emblem Heroes, which is still doing incredibly well. It perfectly captures the essence of the series.

The mobile Animal Crossing game will be releasing sometime this year. We still don’t know much about it, but we’re also excited about that as well.
We feel Zelda would be the best game, by far, though. We’re thinking it would be a top-down Zelda game, much like The Legend of Zelda and A Link to the Past. We’re looking forward to see what Nintendo has up its sleeve.
