The Pittsburgh Penguins look to even their series with the Ottawa Senators in game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday, May 15.
After dropping game 1 in overtime, the Pittsburgh Penguins look to even the series with the Ottawa Senators. Bobby Ryan scored the winner for Ottawa 4:59 into the first overtime period.
Jean-Gabriel Pageau has become one of the stars of the playoffs for Ottawa. The 24-year-old Ottawa native opened the scoring in game 1. Pageau has scored eight times for Ottawa and has seven goals in the past six games.
If Ottawa is going to steal game 2, they are going to need another excellent performance in goal from Craig Anderson. Anderson stopped 27 of 28 shots in game 1. The Senators were more physical than Pittsburgh in game 1, out hitting the Penguins. Ottawa’s physical play directly lead to the Senators taking seven more shots than Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh played well in game one but could only get one puck passed Anderson. The Penguins need to take advantage of the power-play. In game 1, Pittsburgh had five power plays but could not score on any of them. Sidney Crosby needs to start scoring for Pittsburgh. In the regular season, Crosby led the NHL with 44 goals. However, Crosby has scored only four goals in the playoffs and has not scored since the first game of Pittsburgh’s series against Washington.
